I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Both parents hailed from Glasgow Scotland. His Father served in the Royal Air
Force before coming to the United States where he designed and sold custom printed forms. Mom was a general
secretary.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Ashland University in 1982, and Doctor of Optometry from The Ohio
State University in 1986. I worked in the food service while attending Ashland University. Positions held: food server,
cook, donut maker, dish washer, janitor, basically anything that needed to be done.
While attending Optometry school, I worked with mentally handicapped for ARC as a care giver, program implementer. I
spent one summer working at Camp Easter Seal working with physically handicapped. Proud to say"I put myself through
school."
